A little bit of history...
Perched atop a hill at over 400 meters, the Castle of Antica was transformed into a villa with an adjoining farm in the 17th century. The name “Antica” likely originates from “Agia Antica,” documented in the 11th century in records from the monastery of San Pier Maggiore in Florence. In 1073 and 1085, Gisla di Rodolfo donated the castle, a court, and a church to the monastery. The earliest direct mention of the castle appears in a Vallombrosa Abbey deed from 1129.
Devastated by the Ghibellines after the Battle of Montaperti (1269), the castle was later referred to as the “ruined and destroyed fortress” in a 1312 Vallombrosa document. It remained under the Florentine Abati family, one of whom reportedly owned a ring discovered in 1612 during renovations by the Pandolfini family, the villa's then-owners.

Crazy beautiful view. Villa full of interesting history, while adapted to modern needs.

Inside the Villa
The massive Villa contains two full bedrooms with access to a shared full bathroom, a Master bedroom with en suite bathroom, and an office/additional room with a pullout bed, with room for two. When entering the villa, you are welcomed by a hall with splendid frescoes in the ceiling, 4 meters above you and on the walls. From there, an entrance to the lounge area which reminds you of the elegance of old times. With two separate sofa-nooks, a chessboard and other board games available, this is the perfect place for social indoor activities, or quiet time reading a book. At the end of the lounge, the old wooden refectory table stands by the old fireplace. A double entrance will take you to the master suite with a king size bed, a dressing table, a sitting area for two, dressers and an en suite bathroom. From the old refectory table, a double door to the outdoor terrace with an exquisite 180º view of the Tuscan hills, the church and nearby towns. The sun shines from morning to evening. On the other side of the Master bedroom, a more traditional living room with sofa, a recliner chair and TV. From the living room, you will on one hand find the restroom (WC) and on the other the kitchen. The kitchen is fully equipped with a fridge, freezer, microwave, oven, gas stove, coffee maker, toaster, pots and pans and everything else you need in a kitchen. With a dinner table for 6-8 in the kitchen, you don't have to travel far to serve your master pieces, if you are dining inside! Welcome to Villa di Antica!

The
Outside
The garden, property and surrounding area is full of interesting things to do. From the entry of the Villa, you'll find coffee tables and chairs under the old and beautiful magnolia tree. Here you will find shadow on the warmest days, while still being able to enjoy the view. In the garden you will find a football net and some balls, and with the back entrance of the house in near proximity (which leads straight to the kitchen), it’s easy to run inside and get cold beverages. You’ll also find some badminton rackets and birdies, as well as a small playhouse for the youngest. If you prefer doing less, enjoy the terrace with the 180º view over the luscious nearby area, seeing as far as Arezzo if you look far enough. Or so they say! The terrace is perfect for enjoying breakfast in the morning, or to enjoy late evenings in good company. A sofa nook with a coffee table is ready for you, as well as two sun beds and a dining table. The Villa Antica property spans 70 hectares of land. Go for a stroll in the olive groves, walk around the property and view the spectacular old architecture from a different perspective.
